Nature Photography as a Meditative Practice

Join photographer Thom Adorney for a mindful exploration of the natural world through the lens of your camera.  Thom is an award-winning member of three North Shore art associations and uses this approach to connect more deeply with the natural world around him.

This small-group experience (limited to 12 participants) begins at the IRWA Headquarters, where Thom will share a short presentation on the meditative approach to photography. From there, the group will take a guided walk along the Riverbend trails to practice slowing down, noticing details, and capturing the beauty of the river environment.

A follow-up Zoom session will be scheduled at a convenient time for participants, offering an opportunity to share photos, reflect on the experience, and continue the conversation together.

Introductory Workshop: How to Tame Your Camera and Teach It to Do Tricks

Ever found yourself wondering why your photos aren't coming out as well as you'd hoped?

This innovative, hands-on class is designed to help you move beyond taking snapshots and learn how to create vivid images. Every camera made today - compact, mobile phone, or DSLR  - can take stunning photographs. You just have to know how your camera sees and thinks. When you understand a few basics, you can train your camera to do some amazing tricks and create images that you'll love. 

We will also cover how to process your images using photo-editing software on your computer or mobile device to enhance the photograph and create different versions, such as black and white or sepia toned

I offer private and small group lessons customized to your needs. As you can see from my portfolio, I'm accomplished at photographing a variety of subjects and use many different techniques. If you need help learning how to use your camera or want to learn a particular technique for making more dynamic and creative images, I can help. My base rate is $50/hour.
